My girlfriend, Allison, of almost 4 years recently got diagnosed with papillary thyroid cancer. Apparently it is the "best" cancer to get and we were all expecting a simple removal of the tumor itself, and that would be it...done. Well today the surgery finally happened, and once the surgeon actually got in there they realized that it had actually spread a lot and was, as they said "much worse than was thought". They had to remove her thyroid gland (no biggy though as we were expecting this anyways and it just causes you to have to take a single pill everyday for life...not that bad once you get use to it), and a lot of her lymph system on the right side of her neck and down in to the upper part of her chest where it had spread. They are of course not sure if they got it all, and now she will probably have to do some radioactive iodine treatments as well as radiation, and maybe more...not sure yet, but we'll know more tomorrow. Allison might just be my girlfriend and not my wife, but after 4 years of being with each other, and living together for 5, we were pretty much decided on being with each other for life. She is so full of life, and I don't want things to get worse, her to suffer, or for me to loose her. I broke down just seeing her in pain after the surgery and even typing this is hard. Please, think about her for me, and pray if you do that kind of thing. I just am so worried, and can't do a damn thing about this which sucks. I know it seems silly to post here, but after being on here for like 8 years, some of you have become great friends, and we are all part of the same Z family, and I just need to talk/type to get my feelings out I suppose.
